10 years ago I had the pleasure of interviewing actress Keesha Sharp. Back then she was making a name for herself playing Monica on the hit TV series, Girlfriends. A lot has changed with her since then.
Keesha has taken on several different roles. She starred in Lethal Weapon as Trish Murtaugh where she played a high-powered defense attorney and mother. Speaking of attorneys, Keesha was nominated (Image Award) for her role as Buster Marshall- wife to the legendary Attorney and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall (Chadwick Boseman) in the highly anticipated film Marshall. She also appeared as Dale Cochran, the wife of defense attorney Johnnie Cochran (Courtney B. Vance), in FX’s Emmy nominated The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Her recurring television roles include The Good Fight (CBS Access), Significant Mother (CW), Bad Teacher (CBS), Melissa & Joey (ABC Fam), Everybody Hates Chris (UPN), and guest starring appearances on The Player (NBC), TV Land’s The Exes, CBS’s Elementary, CBS’s Cold Case, and more.
Now Keesha is bringing that same sass she had in Girlfriends to a new film on BET called A Christmas Surprise. The film follows a self-made businesswoman who gets a Christmas surprise when her daughter returns from college with big news – she’s engaged! Now the holiday is thrown into chaos as she deals with her less-than-impressive and soon-to-be son-in-law, his overbearing mother, and an impending wedding.
The film stars Wendy Raquel Robinson, Keesha Sharp, Will Blagrove, Katelynn Bennett, and Mustapha Slack and is available on BET+ now.
In anticipation of this new film, I got a chance to catch with Keesha. Press play for the full interview.
