In just about any movie that calls for a tough/bad guy, you’re more than likely going to see Emilio Rivera. Raised in the tough streets of LA, Rivera explained that he had no choice to be tough. Losing a fight in the streets could mean getting beat at home by his father so, that persona became him. After living the street life, Emilio found acting which he explained to me “saved his life“.
Rivera is most noted for his portrayal of Marcus Álvarez in Sons of Anarchy and its spin-off, Mayans M.C. You’ve may also have seen him in Friday After Next, On My Block (Netflix), and most recently BET’s The Family Business. The Family Business is an American crime family drama created by Carl Weber and based on his bestselling crime drama book series. The series follows the Duncans, an upstanding family that owns and operates an exotic car dealership in New York. By night, they live a dangerous secret life. When they come under siege the Duncan’s will have to stick together or die.
Rivera’s resume is impeccable and long. He’s a veteran in this business and has made a name for himself as Hollywood’s Tough Guy. But the real Emilio is the complete opposite of that. He’s a humble, warm, wise, loving family man that used his pain to fuel his passion. His insight on his journey is inspiring but most importantly, it’s relatable.
