Interview: Jay Ellis Shares How Black Historians Inspired His Career & Chats About “Insecure”

For several years I’ve seen Jay Ellis charm thousands through the TV screen. Yesterday I witnessed that same charm in person. Jay was apart of Macy’s annual Black History Month celebration. Along with BJ The Chicago Kid and Jocelyn Delk Adams, Jay lead a panel discussion.

Jay Ellis is a television and film actor, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. Ellis currently stars in HBO’s comedy series Insecure, and has appeared in several critically acclaimed series including Masters of Sex, Grace and Frankie, How I Met Your Mother, Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS and BET’s The Game.

Although the interview was short, I learned about Jay’s childhood, his role on Insecure and why Black History is important to him.
