My first introduction to Dominic Rains was in 2019 on the #OneChicagoDay red carpet. Upon approaching me and before our interview, he sweetly brushed my hair out of my face. That was a moment that I never forgot about him. His natural kindness and thoughtfulness seemed to be unmatched.
Dominic Rains stars as Dr. Crockett Marcel, “Chicago Med’s” ace Emergency Room surgeon. Raised in New Orleans, Crockett is a hard-partying doctor from Louisiana who’s great at performing surgeries but not so great at following rules.
Rains is an Iranian-American actor who is best known for his breakout roles in the Sundance favorites “The Taqwacores”, as well as the critically acclaimed “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.” He won Best Actor for his performance in “Burn Country,” opposite James Franco, Rachel Brosnahan, and Melissa Leo, in the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.
Prior to “Chicago Med,” Rains was the lead villain in the fifth season of ABC/Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” He also held a recurring role in season one of Amazon’s drama series “Tales from the Loop.”
Raised in Dallas, Rains attended the University of Texas at Dallas where he majored in biology and criminology.
After my initial meeting with Rains on the #OneChicagoDay red carpet, we decided to catch up with him to see how his character is developing, what he would like to see more from his character, and who he would like to see his character with. Press play for full interview.
